Spero:Resource
Spero:Resource is committed to providing the best assistance possible to those living in poverty, encouraging the local church to aid in an individual's development, both physical and spiritual, while responding to them with respect and compassion. We believe working as a network with others who share this passion benefits all agencies involved and, more importantly, those we serve.
By serving an average of 225 families weekly, Spero:Resource acts as the hands and feet of Christ in the local community. We are able to share the message of the Gospel by meeting physical needs through our food pantry and clothing center, as well as provide prayer and relationships with clients. We have limited requirements and welcome families and individuals to come once a month for food and clothing. Within this, we create the space and time to hear stories and prayer requests, pray with the clients, and welcome them into our lives and ministry.
Though newly adopted into the Spero network, Spero:Resource has already inherited a rich history. We are excited to announce a partnership with LifeChurch.tv's Mercy Ministries who has been serving individuals for over 37 years! Now known as The Spero Resource Center, the Mercy Ministries Warehouse has long been the site of powerful ministry impacting indviduals in the the Oklahoma City community. The Spero Project is proud to partner with the staff and volunteers who are now members of The Spero Team!
In order to serve individuals and agencies faithfully, canned and fresh food is regularly purchased from the Regional Food Bank and is also received from local food drives and donations.
"He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free" Psalm 146:7
"Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and everyone else."
