Last night, in the Spero:Voice Youth Group, the students were filling out a Spiritual Gifts assessment. You never realize until you do something like that with children still learning English how challenging some of the words are!
One of the students asked a volunteer next to me what 'stewardship' was. If I had answered I would have said: how well you manage money, how generous you are.
But, the volunteer next to me explained it was how well you take care of all things that you have the ability to manage: our time, relationships, influence, the world around us, and more. He ended the definition with the idea that stewardship can mean managing your money well, too.
"Oh, yeah. Thanks for the reminder, Lord." I spent the rest of the evening letting Him reset my mind about stewardship--seeing ALL that I have as His: time, energy, influence. At the end of the day, can I say that I viewed all my time as the Lord's? Honestly, not right now. But, I'm working on it!
