If you or your church would like to become a participant in the Co-Op of Care for international refugees, simply attend one of our monthly introduction/training sessions.

CO-OP of CARE for REFUGEES in OKC:

Monthly Introduction and Training Sessions will orient participants on issues related to serving refugees in Oklahoma City and will connect you to others serving the same population!


Introduction Sessions Topics include:

  • How do refugees get here?
  • Basic understanding of cultures represented.
  • Basic training on working with language barriers.
  • Safety/Privacy/Security policies.


Training Session Topics include:

  • Navigating SoonerCare, DHS, WIC, and other state programs.
  • Assisting families in the Public School System.
  • Assisting families in job searches.
  • Tips on dealing with challenging situations that may arise in working with refugees.
  • Sharing your faith with families from other cultures.
  • Discipleship among the refugee population.

*Topics rotate monthly, but trainings will always include at least a portion of the program dedicated to ministering to refugee families.  Email notifications will alert members to the upcoming training topics.

Introduction Session and Training Sessions are in the same location and same time each month.  New members simply attend the Introduction Session in an adjoining room for their first meeting.  New members must attend the Introduction Session to join.  Once members have joined, they are welcome to attend any training session they wish to equip them for serving this population.
